Historical markers: People

The “Lewis and Clark in Kentucky” historical markers project commemorates many of the significant people and places connected to the expedition and will be a lasting legacy of the bicentennial. They can be found across the state, from Wickliffe on the Mississippi River in the west to the Cumberland Gap in the east – from Maysville on the Ohio River in the north to Russellville in the south. Working with the Kentucky Historical Society and partnering with institutions, organizations, and the National Park Service, the markers help form a Lewis and Clark Trail through Kentucky and commemorate the commonwealth’s important role in this epic journey. In addition to the markers for Kentucky people listed below, you can view a list of historical markers for Kentucky places.
