Nathaniel Pryor

Nathaniel Hale Pryor (1772-1831) was born in Virginia and was living in Jefferson County, Kentucky, by 1782. He and Charles Floyd were first cousins. He enlisted in the expedition on October 20, 1803 – the last of the Nine Young Men to join. Like his cousin he was appointed one of the expedition’s sergeants. He was ordered to keep a journal but it has never been found. He served in the army after the expedition, fought in the famous Battle of New Orleans, and was a trader among the Osage Indians in present Oklahoma.
